Valentine’s Day is the day of love. The day for you and your honey to romance one another. Okay, I get it. This used to be the case many lifetimes ago pre-kids. You remember those fantastic dating years and maybe the married years before your kids? Or is that just me? Sure, I could wonder when I will experience those days again but I figured- Why not have a Day of Love with my kids as well?
Besides the fact that babysitters are expensive, they are also hard to come by on Valentine’s Day. I think those hard earned babysitter days should be utilized when you have more time and less pressure. So what can you do to make the most of Valentine’s Day with the family?
Get ready to have some fun and celebrate Valentine’s Day with the kids with these date ideas that are perfect for the whole family:
Valentine’s Day With Kids #1: Game Night
Order pizza put down your phones, turn off the TV and enjoy some board games with your family. Nothing shows your love more than taking the time to focus on your family and family game nights can be an absolute blast.
Valentine’s Day With Kids #2: Valentine’s Themed Breakfast
Chances are, most of the breakfasts in your house are rushed. Why not take the time to sit down and have a nice breakfast together. Better yet, make it a Valentine’s Themed Breakfast by making heart shaped pancakes or waffles with strawberries and whipped cream.
Valentine’s Day With Kids #3: Movie Night
Like a family game night, a family movie night is a wonderful way to really spend time with the kids. Consider renting a family friendly romance such as Lady and the Tramp or Enchanted and cuddle up on the sofa with a blanket and some popcorn and snacks. The kids will love it!
Valentine’s Day With Kids #4: Cook Dinner Together
Do you ever let your kids cook? Why not make your Valentine’s dinner a family one by having every member of the family decide on it and help prepare it. This goes for dessert too!
Valentine’s Day With Kids #5: Write Out Family Love Notes
Give each person in the family a notebook and have them write a love note to every other person in the family. This is a great way for everyone to be reminded of how loved they are and the things that their family members love about them. You can read these out loud to one another or they can be kept and read in private whenever the recipient chooses.
If your kids cannot write as yet, simply let them draw a picture that shows how much they love you!
Have you ever celebrated Valentine’s Day as a family before? What did you do?

I love these ideas. We’re going to make a leisurely breakfast and have pizza/movie night instead of our usual homemade fondue which is always a stressor for me :) Happy Vday!
