Measure Up! Cups and Busy Farm Review

Have you heard of Discovery Toys? No? That’s okay because up until recently I hadn’t heard about them either but let me assure you, you want to hear about them.

Discovery Toys Review
A few weeks ago, I had come to the realization that I need to step up my intentional play time with C (my now toddler- where did the time go?) and my mind started a mad dash about all the things I wanted to do. I visited websites and blogs for educational toys that he could use. I tried my best to remember what I did with J at that age and it led to me feeling overwhelmed.

Why was I overwhelmed?

I was overwhelmed because of all the choices that are available. Do I want to go the Montessori route? How about Reggio? What was I trying to accomplish? What milestones should he be hitting shortly? How can I help him get there? I am pretty sure this is how every mother’s mind works, right?

The Solution

I was so happy to have met Stefanie during the midst of my sea of anxiety. She told me about Discovery Toys and then asked for the ages of my children: 1 and an almost 3 year old. Once she found out where they were developmentally ( J was a bit harder to place as she is not the average 2 year old) we came up with Measure Up Cups for C and Busy Farm for J.

Measure Up! Cups Review

First of all, I loved the fact that Measure Up! Cups had an activity guide inside the box so that I could have a few ideas on what can be done with the cups. Let me say that besides the fact that both C and J wanted the cups… these cups are so versatile. Besides the normal stacking and knocking down, the base of the cups have a stamp imprint so you can stamp with it as well as use it with playdough!

J enjoyed stacking the cups while C enjoyed knocking them over. We also played a little game where I would stack a few cups around his room and he would run to knock them over. As soon as he knocked them down, I would build them up. It was a little tiring but you can tell that he enjoyed it.

This set also came with an activity guide that started from preschool ages and up. They had suggestions of fun ways to sing the Alphabet Song as well as games to improve visual memory as well as listening skills.

I am sure most moms aim high and then adjust for what their preschooler can do but I decided that J is only 2 and did not want to push her with this set. My game plan was to introduce a different card per day and she would work her way through it. J did not like my idea at all.

She blasted through the cards while making the sounds for each animal. We actually went through 6 cards in 5 minutes. I learnt never to underestimate my kid and she learnt math skills while having fun and being a silly goose (her words, not mine)

Final Thoughts

I love these products and the fact that I can use them with both my children is a bonus. To be honest, I even have my eye on a few more products for J and C. Thanks again Stefanie.

Love the idea that toys for toddlers don't have to be loud or complicated. Something as simple as stacking cups can keep them busy for long stretches of time! :) Really cute products - thanks for sharing!
