Do you have any fall traditions? One of our favourite traditions is to go to the pumpkin patch and carving (well its more painting) our pumpkins. Both my kids get their own pumpkins and my husband and I share the biggest pumpkin we can find. Another tradition that we have as a family is to do a 2 hour drive and look at all the leaves as they change and hope to see a moose, an elk or a deer. We also tend to count whatever wildlife we see while driving.
Another reason that we love fall is because of how many fun ways you can teach your kids about life and the world around them. They can learn about why leaves change colour, the parts of an acorn as well as have a sensory explosion with all the beautiful colours and sensory bins.
I also believe that another bonus to learning at home is the fact that you can adjust the themes to match the season. As a result, you will find a collection of all my fall activities for kids with printables below.
I found having these printables on had makes my homeschool days so much easier. And I really love sharing them with you! I know there are homeschool parents out there just like me who enjoy fun and simple lessons where there children have fun learning.
Did you know printables can also help develop a variety of skills? No, I am serious. Some of these are:
- hand eye co-ordination
- 1 to 1 correspondence
- fine motor skills (think lacing cards and tracing lines)
- counting
- positional words
Quite frankly, as a homeschooling teacher, I believe that having access to worksheets is a fantastic resource. Not only can fall worksheets and activities be themed so that you can use them in whatever theme you are doing, they can be so easily duplicated for the number of students that need them. Take them to your next homeschool co-op or make duplicates for all the children in your home.
