Today, I will be sharing a few more fall activities for preschoolers. J is pretty much like any preschooler- they love playdough. Courtesy of her love of playdough and my willingness to continue to expose her to fall and all it has to offer, I created 2 sensory activities for J. The first is Pumpkin Cinnamon Playdough and the second is Pumpkin Cinnamon Ooblek. Let’s walk.
Fall Activities for Preschoolers:Pumpkin Cinnamon Playdough
For this recipe, I followed our Strawberry Playdough recipe and then tweaked it for our pumpkin playdough.
What we tweaked
1) The pureed strawberries we switched out for pureed pumpkin pie filling.
2) I increased the amount of flour from 1 1/4 cups to 1 1/2 cups.
3) I also added 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
4) I omitted the strawberry jello.
Once all the dry ingredients were mixed together, I added the wet ingredients, stirred, rolled and then we played.
Fall Activities for Preschoolers:Pumpkin Cinnamon Ooblek
This was the first time I have ever made ooblek. I had seen it a few times on Pinterest but never attempted it. I figured that I had enough pumpkin puree left over so why not add it to our fall activities for preschoolers list?
What You Need
2 cups Corn Starch
1 cup Pumpkin Pie Filling Puree
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
Place all the ingredients in a bowl and stir together. At first it may seem quite thick but keep stirring and eventually it will liquify a bit. Apparently no one really knows if you should classify ooblek as a solid or liquid as the more you handle it, the more its composition changes.
When you are done playing with your pumpkin cinnamon playdough and ooblek, store them in an airtight container for future use.
