The preschool lesson plan for this week’s playful preschool fine and gross motor skills activity is Fall Colours -red, yellow and orange. In case you are new to Learning 2 Walk, Playful Preschool is a series consisting of a group of preschool bloggers coming together to share playful ways to teach preschoolers. Each week has a different theme and every blogger has a different subject area. So far we have done Apples, Family/Heritage and Harvest. If you are also looking for more fall activities for preschoolers, you can click here. Let’s walk.
What You Need
Please note that affiliate links are used for these products. See my disclosure policy for details.
To do this fall activities for preschoolers you will need the following:
1) Red, Yellow and Orange Paint
4) Decorative Tape for borders
What We Did
First I got my area ready by getting our craft mat ( it is simply a plastic shower liner) and then I placed it on top of my carpet to prevent any accidents.
Once that was done I taped down the sides of my paper I wanted to use to the craft mat with painter’s tape. I then got an old receiving blanket for emergency wipe ups.
I painted J’s feet with the first colour and then lifted and placed her on the paper to start painting with her feet. Then I did a few more prints with that colour. Once we were done with the red, we moved on to yellow for the other foot and then we did orange on both feet.
Once the painting was dry, I added decorative tape for the borders.

What a fun painting twist as well as gross motor play!
Danielle says
I bet the process was a lot of fun. The final product is beautiful!
alecia says
It was Danielle! I secretly wanted to join in but someone needed to be in charge of clean up.
Theresa says
I love how you did footprints in Fall colors. We love doing footprint crafts too. Children are so delighted by the feel of paint on their feet.
alecia says
Thanks Theresa. I was a bit nervous at first about the activity itself especially for clean up but I simply lifted her and put her in the tub to clean up.
Cerys from Rainy Day Mum says
I have a feeling we will be getting very messy tomorrow – I’m ashamed to admit that we have never done footprints
alecia says
That’s totally alright Cerys, better late than never. I really wanted to do it too but like I said before, one of us needed to be in charge of clean up.
Natasha says
We enjoy a little feet painting every now and then. I never taped down the sides and don’t know why I didn’t think of it. I will be taping down my sides from now on to keep the mess down.
Jodie @ Growing Book by Book says

What a fun idea! I’m not sure I could convince my daughter to paint her feet, but maybe if she sees her sisters do it first…
