We rowed our way through Ask Mr Bear this week and J enjoyed it so much that we might have to purchase the book (we currently use our library to supply the books- much easier on the pocket).
We sang and read Old Macdonald, matched cards of the animals in the story, played with her miniature farm animals, worked on tracing sheets and more.
We also did Math (or as J calls it ‘doing Mr Demme). This little one is just blasting through Primer and I have to be the one to stop the lessons.
J also did some weeding in the garden and helped to plant a few bulbs.
For practical skills, she learnt how to use a salad spinner and I managed to keep her out of trouble. Win-win
I even caught her ‘reading’ to Baby C. Sure she can sound out CVC words when she wants to but this time she was simply repeating a story she had heard countless times.
We will also be having an un-birthday party on Saturday. Should be fun. I wonder if she will invite that rabbit that seems to visit us daily?
Did anyone else notice that the wrong book is listed for this week? It says The Runaway Bunny but it should say Ask Mr Bear. Oh well

I love this stage of homeschooling so much! I wouldn't discount the value of "reading" a well-known story from memory. If she's actually looking at the words as she says them, she will gain some sight words from the exercise, and may eventually recognise these familiar words in other places.

Sadly, it's quite true. If he is around, I don't seem to exist.
