For the last few weeks we have looked at the major reasons why people discourage homeschooling in our series, Dont Homeschool! It will ruin your kids. There was the issue of socialization, not having a teacher’s degree, and the fact that your kids will miss out.
Today I will be kicking off a new series that will further guide you in your homeschooling journey. It is called,”Wait! There is MORE THAN 1 homeschooling method?” This series however will be quite different from my last. What’s the difference you may ask?
FIRST: It will be from the point of views of other known bloggers (yup I am bringing in the big guns with all their expertise)
SECOND: They will be telling you WHY they chose the method they use, PROS of this method and CONS of this method. You will be getting the good, the bad and the ugly.
LAST: They might even throw in what curriculum they use to help them homeschool.
So grab you cup of coffee (or 2 or even three depending on what time you went to bed last night) and walk with me. The first homeschooling method we will be addressing on Thursday at 12pm will be ECLECTIC HOMESCHOOLING. The big guns for this post:
- Kathy from SimplyHomeschoolliving
- Karen from Tots And Me
- Lisa from The Canadian Homeschooler

I used to love reading about homeschooling over the summer. I read the pros and cons of all the different methods out there at the time. I loved the Charlotte Mason method but always had trouble reading through the original books, though I often read portions of them. It was a blessing when books came out explaining those books by Charlotte Mason. My all time favorite was reading 4 books by Marilyn Howshall. I don't hear her talked about anymore but I found her method to be the best while my children were in those middle years.

I don't think I have ever heard of her but then I am quite new to homeschooling. We will be having a post dedicated to Charlotte Mason on July 3rd. You should stop by and see if Marilyn is mentioned.

Looking forward to hearing more about all these different styles. I've always been curious about a few of them! Thanks.

I sometimes think there are too many options out there now! It can be very overwhelming. But I'm very happy not to have to do a standard boxed textbook curriculum with my family. That was practically the only option (next to unschooling) back when my parents started homeschooling.

Love that you're doing this series on homeschooling options. We homeschooled when homeschooling wasn't cool. lol ...from the 1980s to 2006. It was the best decision we ever made.

I figured that I can't be the ONLY clueless one out there, so I need to share what I learn.

It is Amy. I will be exploring an option I have never heard of before so I am quite excited.
